In Ukrainian culture, bread is sacred. And a 'korovai' is especially believed to hold magical powers by kneading the bread during rituals of dance and song. Ornate edible nature-based symbols are hand-pressed and sculpted out of dough to offer to a newly wedded couple, serve as a greeting to guests upon entering a Ukrainian home, or be used in a Ukrainian welcome dance called, 'Pryvit'.
